Alvaro Gaona Blaya was born in Abanilla, Murcia. From an early age he developed a fondness for drawing, an activity that he has never left. It was during college, while studying Architectural Technology at the Catholic University of San Antonio, when picking up the brush and the paint became an almost daily activity and complementary to his life as a student. During that time he developed aninterest in art, especially contemporary art as a means of expressing his particular view of life and the world.  Realizing that little by little this activity was becoming a central part of his life, he undertook some courses at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Murcia and decided to start a career devoted entirely to art.
